Darren Bousman Picks Jaime King to Lead Mother's Day Cast

Darren Lynn Bousman has chosen a cast for his Mother's Day remake, which starts shooting next month in Winnipeg. Sin City actress Jaime King has joined the cast as the "woman of the house" with X-Men's Shawn Ashmore and Sorority Row's Briana Evigan as her guests. Charles Kaufman's original 1980 Troma cult classic revolved around three friends who run afoul of two brothers who engage in murder and rape to impress their deranged mother. The new version is being remolded as a psychological thriller in which the wicked family returns to the house where they grew up to terrorize the new owners and guests.

"What we're trying to do is elevate this outside of a genre movie," Bousman said. "I've done three Saw films, I've done Repo, and yes, this is horrific at times, but it's much darker and deeper because of the focus on the characters." As mentioned before, King ...
