Nicole Kidman to Star in Tomas Alfredson's The Danish Girl

Last year, Tomas Alfredson directed, in my mind, one of the best films of the entire year: Let the Right One In. A haunting story exploring adolescence, alienation, and identity. Well, Alfredson's set to take man the helm again with another story exploring identity, though devoid of the supernatural. The Danish Girl is an adaptation of David Ebershoff's book, the account of Einar Wegener/Lili Elbe, who in 1931 was the first to receive a sex change operation, going from man to woman. Nicole Kidman has signed on to portray Wegener/Elbe, while Charlize Theron, who had been attached to play Wegener's wife, has dropped out.
